The electric guitar broke through the sound barrier and gave the instrument a louder, and more unique, voice that could be heard.

As the electric guitar broke barriers in sound, so did music. The industry turned towards a genre centered around the electric guitar's distorted sound: rock.

Music was ingraved in American culture like it never had been before because of the guitar's breakthrough. Thousands of fans flocked to stadiums just to catch a glimpse of their favorite rock artists and bands performing.
